Sea La Vie - 11/19
// Book Things - Probably the best place to start since I've been away because of book things. The good news is I finished draft one of my book, the bad news is it won't qualify as a NaNoWriMo winner because I was a few thousand words short of 50k. I'm a little bummed but over all excited, draft two will be meatier just because I figured out a main plot point towards the end of the book that needs to be explained throughout the rest of the story. So while I didn't officially "win" (there aren't prizes anyway) I completed draft one of a novel and that my friends is something to be proud of. In other book news I'm reading again, yayyyy for finish your writing rewards. I'm starting out with a light cozy mystery that should be an easy read, my brain needs a break.
// Kelli Things - Lots of morning beach walks when the weather permits, I'm pretty sure 7:10ish to 7:35ish is my new favorite part of every week day. Play dates with friends now that the summer tourist season is over, it's weird how we play in the winter here and work in the summer.
// Kid Things - Our first non-well visit to the doctor and penicillin prescription (which Walmart gave me unmixed and then suggested I mix it myself), parent teacher conferences where I learned my kid is shy (hahahahaha only at school), Halloween, and farm field trips have all happened. We also received our first school picture to include an awkward fake smile reminiscent of my sister when we were young and next week my baby girl turns 6 years old.
// Holiday Things - Thanksgiving is coming and Christmas will follow, I have made no preparations I haven't even started shopping (hangs head in shame). This weekend I'll be planning next weekends birthday party, maybe I'll get some shopping done in December.
I love book news especially when it involves a celebrity spending money to donate books to children, I can totally get behind a cause like that. In other exciting news my two favorite SNL veterans will be back together on the SNL stage in December, I can't wait. Another thing I can't wait for, August of 2016 when my sister will be in town and we will check out this concert that's been 10 years in the making. Last let's end with the most important thing you can do for your friends, it's easy and it's free.
Happy Weekending!

school pictures are hilarious. in kayla's first school picture (JK), she had Chandler face. remember that Friends episode where Chandler couldn't smile properly and it fucked up his face? yep, that was Kayla hahahahaha!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on draft one! That's great!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the draft to your book!! That is something to be very proud to say. School pictures were the worst back in the day, they always catch you so off guard.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book! And wtf walmart, I mean seriously?? If I'm dealing with an rx, that all needs to be done for me.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you did win by completely your first draft! Yay!!! Congrats!!! I look back at school photos and laugh and laugh. They are just so awkward! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYay so proud of you for finishing your first draft!! I can't wait to read your book :-)
ReplyDeleteThe year I won, they gave coupons for printed copies of your book if you won (you had like 6 months or so to redeem them) so if you can, bump your word count up. You never know what you might get! And congrats on finishing your first draft regardless. That's a pretty awesome accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteI'm birthday party planning right now, too (the child's bday is in mid-December). Priorities!
Hooray! Yeah, I was confused by your comment about not finishing, because your word count has been on point the whole way but it makes sense now. I agree with Nadine that finishing the story is winning, regardless of whether it's the right length! Good job!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the draft completion! Big accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss the story about Taylor Swift's gift of books?? FANTASTIC!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations of your first draft accomplishment. That is quite an amazing job you've done there, girlie.
