Weekending and A Remodel
Next on my to do list is a good brainstorming session, I don't want to bring back the Seashell Chronicles but I do want to bring back some type of wrap up post every Friday. I'm ready to make my

| The early bird gets the empty beach! |
Saturday morning I was on the beach by 9 AM, by 11 AM it was so hot you were sweating as soon as you left the water. When the water isn't a relief from the heat it's time to find something to do away from the hot sand and sun. Of course that means I chose to go to the unconditioned flea market and spend some of my book credits. There isn't a lot I won't do for "free" books.
Sunday Little K decided there would be no beach time, it's hard to argue when the temps hit 90 before 10 AM and don't fall below 100 until sometimes after dark. My mom came over Sunday afternoon and we went shopping for my birthday present which I missed getting in May. I now have the stuff to make clay pot light house to welcome all of Tyson's visitors over the 4th of July. Hopefully I can get it painted this week and set out by the front gate.
Speaking of the 4th I'll be packing up Little K and a bunch of unread books and heading to my mom's beach house. I'm looking forward to a spending time in a house with crappy cell service, 3 TV channels, and no internet (NOT written in sarcasm font). Disconnecting is good for the soul and my mom's house is always a great place to get disconnected.
How was your weekend? What are your plans for the 4th?

The Week Ended
Friday - Little K and I celebrated Dr. Suess's birthday at the library with friends, we had a great time until they practically pushed us out the door so they could all go home. I'll let them slide since it was a Friday night, I'd have pushed my ass out the door too.
Saturday - After swim class Little K and I went on an adventure to find dress clothes for daddy to where to my 20th high school reunion in 2 weeks (holy fuck). I FINALLY found what I was looking for at the Casual XL outlet store, but I had to fight speedway traffic to get to it. Also found on Saturday a coat tree and a shoe shelf, if you can't find it or build it improvise. At least I no longer have piles of shoes and coats in the kitchen. I also saw the first banner plane of the year fly by from my reading chair and thought it's almost beach time!
Sunday - I was so excited to wake up and realize my clock was an hour off, let the longer days begin! Daddy left to celebrate his Grandmother's 90th b-day and pick up Little K's birth certificate so I can register her for school (holy fuck). Little K and I attended our first kids birthday party, I don't know about daddy but Little K and I had fun even if she did decide she was shy, hated pizza, and hated cupcakes (insert eye roll). After the birthday party we found daddy dress shoes to go with his dress outfit and I may or may not have bought another pair of shoes for myself since there was still a buy one get one 50% off. I also learned on Sunday that I can't take a phone selfie without my face looking like it's sunburned, WTF?
How was your weekend? Was the weather spring like where you are?

I Finished Moving In
If we're being honest here (and I try to be on my blog) I just finished moving in. Yes I've lived her for going on 3 years but I still had boxes packed with stuff that could have been put away. It wasn't about procrastination which if you know me would be your first guess, I'm a first rate procrastinator.
When we decided to move to the beach it wasn't a pre-planned move like most of the moves in my life had been. We didn't have a place to stay other than my sister's house temporarily and only Tyson had a job. We had a little bit of money in savings and a big dream, not exactly the way I would usually advise one to lead their life and not usually how I lead mine but it makes a great story.
We found our little "trailer by the sea" (name that tune?) on day one of our search. It was 2 miles from the beach, had a fenced in yard for the dog, a play house for the kid and way under budget, we paid our deposit and moved in on day two. Go us! It was much smaller than the homes we had rented in Charlotte but it would work. I put things away in boxes believing when our lease was up we would find something bigger and better.
I have searched Craigslist and all the property management sites for two years and unless we can drastically increase our budget bigger and better is at least a 20 minute drive to the beach. So this weekend I unpacked and purged, our life now fits perfectly into this little "trailer by the sea" with a little bit of room to spare. I really learned it's okay to let all that unnecessary stuff go from Steph and Stephanie they rock at purging so I took a page from their book.
So while I may tell everyone I finished my spring cleaning what I really did was move in and make my house a home.
What did you do this weekend to get ready for spring?

The Week Ended
Friday - First thing Friday morning I decided it was time to stock up on my summer reads so I bought all kinds of goodies from my favorite online used bookstore half.com. I've got 6 beach books on the way for about $21, can't beat it!! Also on Friday the President's Day outlets sales started, ever since last year's trip I knew I would spend this year's trip buying school clothes. Yes I might be a little bit early BUT the winter stuff is on clearance and the summer stuff is 50% off this weekend, I'm not going to find deals that good in July/August. So 9 long sleeve shirts, 8 short sleeve shirts, 2 pair of leggings, 1 pair of jeans, and 1 pair of purple pants later I had only spent $130. As a reward I picked up a large jar Yankee Candle from the outlet, hello Golden Sands let's get summer started!
Saturday - Happy Valentine's Day, while Tyson said "Let's not buy each other anything" and I agreed he came home with two charms for my Pandora bracelet. I know I'm getting old because I didn't even feel one bit guilty that all I picked up for him was a card, I deserve to be spoiled in my old age damn it. This is where the five year old with the fever came in, so no swim class and no driving to a Walmart in NC for Girl Scout cookies. Why can't I find any fucking girls scout cookies closer than a Walmart 45 minutes away!?! Anyhoo, I took myself to the library and picked up The Secret Life of Violet Grant and some books for the sick kid. Then I proceeded to spend the rest of the day reading said book while sick kid lounged in bed watching TV.
Sunday - It was C.O.L.D. on Sunday, it never felt above freezing all day and the wind was gusting close to 40 MPH. Screw you winter!! I had prepared for this cold by stocking up on every necessary item I could think of so I wouldn't have to leave the house. I spent all day in PJ's and finished The Secret Life of Violet Grant, and that my friends is when I knew I had had a great weekend!
How was your weekend?

Weekending on a Tuesday
I know everybody is talking about their books today but since I just jumped back into blogland AND finished a massive account review at work I don't have my books ready to link up. Instead I'm sharing all my weekend happenings, maybe not unique on a Monday but a little bit unique on a Tuesday.
Friday - I ordered two books from Half.com, one that is not available at my library and one that I want to read without feeling the library timeline crunch. I also went in search of shoes for my class reunion, I found exactly what I was looking for. The tallest shoes in the store, now instead of looking at Tyson's waist all night I can check out his shoulders. Since they were having a buy one get one half off sale I picked up a cute pair of black Keds boat shoes too. A nice alternative to flip flops in the summer especially on rainy days.
Saturday - My mom came to stay for two nights, I could tell you she came to visit me but that would be a lie. She came to hang out with Little K and to clean my carpets, it wasn't forced labor as payment for me letting her visit her grand daughter. She likes doing that kind of thing; if I ever need anything cleaned, fixed, or painted and I don't want to do it myself mom's the one to call. We took a short but windy beach walk and explored the 2nd floor of the beach grocery which is full of every overpriced thing you could ever want to stock your beach house with.
Sunday - We spent this lovely spring like day laying on the beach in our sweat pants and sweat shirts with our shoes off. After being stuck inside and visiting the frozen tundra aka Michigan it was nice to soak up a little vitamin D and sea air. I finished Yes Please by Amy Poelher and was super glad her comedic voice was evident throughout.
On the schedule for tomorrow, lunch date with new local friend! What's the most exciting thing on your schedule this week?
