No matter which HGTV show you're watching you're bound to hear the same phrases repeated over again. If I were a drinking girl I could make this a game but I'm one of those "boring" non-drinkers so you'll just have to settle for this blog post and my snarky comments.
1. This is a total gut. (Most of the time it's really not, people just refuse to realize perfect doesn't exist.)
2. I would really like hardwood floors. (Go with laminate, hardwood is a lot of work!)
3. This room is small. (Every room isn't going to be big, you have a whole house!)
4. I really wanted a view. (Yeah well that's not in the budget.)
5. Look how close the neighbors are. (Yes that's the price you pay in most HGTV feature locations.)
6. I feel like this lacks privacy. (Most places do in some respect, can you live with it?)
7. This is over our budget. (Bet you'll buy it anyway, why do these people even have budgets?)
8. I hate ________. (Something there is always something.)
9. They're going to have to compromise. (Yes that's usually how lots of things work in relationships.)
10. I'm not sure about this neighborhood. (I bet it's in budget and perfectly safe.)

i used to watch HGTV all the time but i found that everything got repetitive so no more HGTV :(
ReplyDeletelol- YES! Jared and I love to watch HGTV but we always hate all the annoying people on it!! ;) We always laugh at how many times people say "We need space for entertaining" or some phrase that starts with... "I could see myself... sitting here, cooking here, fill-in-the-blank" lol!
ReplyDeleteha, they always say the same things for sure!!! I would also add "I wanted granite countertops and stainless steel appliances" and "I want an open concept living space" ha.

ReplyDeleteI always laugh when they make a big deal about paint color. Like OMGGGGGGG just paint the room! That is so easy and cosmetic!!! Also the granite counters and stainless appliances shouldn't be that huge of a deal breaker.

ReplyDeleteI don't watch HGTV that much but these are definitely key phrases! I hate when realtors show houses to people that are over their budget or like they start off showing the "dream home" (out of budget) and then show them crappy alternatives.
