The PJ Police and Other Confessions

// I have no desire to be a PJ mom, and if you are a full-time PJ mom I'm judging you. While there are occasions where yoga pants and a sweatshirt at a school related thing (hello drop off/pick up line) are okay there are also places I wouldn't be caught dead wearing what are basically PJ's (hello parent/teacher conference).

// There is a dad that waits for his kid to get off the bus while wearing teenage mutant ninja turtle fleece pants, I'm judging PJ dad too.

// Instead of buying Christmas presents this year we rented an ocean front condo for a week but I still want to buy my sister a present. I don't know what to get her which is why I suggested no presents to start with.

// Sometimes the social things K learns in school surprises me, especially when she points out some kids Under Armour sweatshirt because she recognizes the logo from school conversations or when she tells me she's wearing her Sketchers to school today, on day one they were here rainbow shoes.

// It makes me uncomfortable that my mom listed me on all her bank accounts and gave me a copy of her will because she's visiting my sister in Europe for a week this month and another couple weeks in the spring. Is this what our world has come too?!?

// That explaining to my 6 year old why santa brings some kids presents and not others is annoyingly hard. Santa ran out of money doesn't cut it but what else can you say when you're trying to teach her kindness by donating toys to less fortunate kids via Toys For Tots?

// That I suck at blogging lately, all my best ideas come at night when I'm cozy in bed and to lazy to get up and write them down.

// The Post50 section of the Huffington Post is one of my daily reads, hashtag old lady status.

// Goodreads is my favorite social media platform, all the books and none of the drama.

// My kid got sent home from school yesterday because she had a fever again, but when I checked it here no fever. She still can't go back until Wednesday and we are on day 7 of absences, so frustrating when she acts like she feels perfectly fine and the doctor can't find a problem.

Linking up with Kathy and Nadine.

  1. when kayla started daycare, she was sick every week FOR THREE YEARS. if this is K's first round of being around kids every day, then getting sick often is normal; their immune system is building and being exposed to these bugs is actually good for them (just annoying for us!)

  2. We're trying to get our wills in order before we got out of the country in January...it's been a while since we've been overseas and I'd just feel better if everything was locked down.

  3. PJs in public are just unacceptable to me. When my parents went to Jamaica after my sister died I made them have their Wills done and stored somewhere - just in case. A) You never know and B) I'm my niece's guardian in the event something happen to them. I needed that in writing.

  5. My parents told me that the parents have to pay Santa's travel costs (just like when we would fly on a plane) so he can feed his reindeer and elves, and that sometimes other parents can't afford his bill so we donate so those kids can have a happy Christmas too. Not sure how gullible your kid is, but it totally worked on me.

  6. I hate when people wear their PJs in public! And at first when I read about your mom giving you copies of her bank accounts and wills I thought it said that a mom at school gave you them and I was like how weird?! haha but yea, this world is nuts!

  7. Ugh no one should want to be that PJ parent but when you walk around Walmart, you realize there are lots of them!!! I never thought about how hard it would be to explain why some kids don't get Christmas presents. Well aside from other religions. And how to explain toys for tots. Maybe that Santa needs some help sometimes and wants to share the joy of giving to those in need because it makes you feel good to give and that is why toys for tots exists? Or maybe that those families in need dont have Christmas trees so santa has no where to leave the presents?

  9. My guy is SO anti-pjs in public. And, the first time I picked up his son at school, I got instructions on how I was NOT supposed to dress (like a slob). He is anti-ugg boots in public as well. He judges.

  11. The thing about what to say to Little K is heartbreaking! The will thing is scary but good for your mom to get her affairs in order since you never know what might happen in this country or another so it's good peace of mind.

  12. hahaha yes goodreads! totally agree.
people wear sweatpants and such to parent teacher? what?! although i sometimes wear sweatpants to the grocery... lol
i don't remember my mum ever talking to us specifically about why we had less.. my cousins were very rich and their presents always crapped all over ours. i know she said something to make us feel better, i think she said santa only brings one or two and the parents do the rest, that's why it's different. because we thought santa didn't like us as much lol
