Sea La Vie - 10/2

Beach Things - Lets start with the beach thing on the mind of all beach people, hurricane Joaquin. As of post writing we are expecting 4 - 8 inches of rain which could cause localized flooding. During last week's super moon we had several king tide nights which brought flooding from the sea so our grounds are already saturated. No one has said the "E" word yet but I'm always ready to go if they start saying it. I'd rather just stay home though and see what kind of pictures I can take.

Mommy/Daughter Things - Last Friday night Little K and I participated in a local 1 mile run/walk sponsored by some local business and the aquatic center. We had a pizza dinner, ran/walked our mile, got a medal, ate ice cream, and saw friends. It was definitely worth the $8 registration fee and we'll be joining in again in years to come. We've also been reading a ton of books, school is full of reading challenges and I'm all about the books so it makes for good quality time.

Book Things - I finally finished The Silkworm after really struggling to get through it, I like a good mystery but one about a book fully of sexually twisted plot material is a little more than I want to read about for 400 pages. Next up I have Eleanor & Park, Big Magic, and Some Luck. I'm most excited about Big Magic because I feel like I could use a little creativity pep talk.

As mentioned above I'm all about the books, paper books in particular so this list spoke to me until I got to number 9. I can't and I won't love an e-reader, long live print! Kristen did a post a few weeks ago about the things that are happening behind the scenes in her pictures, related to that I found this article hilarious. I had just been questioning to myself whether a certain blogger I follow on IG always has a clean house. Any time I read a post like this I feel so happy to be old, I'm not sure I remember why I ever thought getting old was so bad.

Happy Weekending

  3. I thought I heard today that the hurricane turned and wouldn't make landfall, so that's good! I mean boo rain but better than a huge storm, right? I really enjoyed Eleanor and Park for a YA book... I mean it has a cheese factor but it's still very cute.

  4. I hope you can stay put! And that it doesn't make landfall at all.

  5. Stay safe- hope you don't have to E!! I much prefer having the books in my hand, but I also enjoy the convenience of using the Kindle app on my tablet and renting books from the library since I can sometimes get them quicker that way.

  6. Stay safe girl! We're getting loads of rain here. And hope you like Eleanor & Park. It's angsty but I adored the characters.

  7. Hoping the Hurricane doesn't bring too much damage. It is supposed to hit us too but hopefully it moves to the ocean more. Eleanor and Park is a book i am looking forward to.

  8. Hope you and your loved ones all stay safe. E&P is a book that enchanted most readers I know, so if you've just struggled through a sex-crazed mystery, maybe grab that one as a departure. That last article about growing older was a good one.

  11. How did you all do with the rain/flooding? Our main road flooded and we are just not able to get to 17. But, luckily our house is higher than the beginning of the road!
