8 People You See At The Beach

One of my all-time favorite things to do is people watch, one of the best local places to do that is the beach of course. Here's a list of 8 types of people I see at the beach a LOT.

1. Shell Hunter - These people walk miles and miles of beach with their shell carrier of choice (usually a plastic bag) always looking down intent on finding the most beautiful unique shells.

2. Shade Seeker - You'll find these people under an umbrella or a tent (sometimes fully dressed) doing everything they can to avoid the sun.

3. Sun Worshiper - Completely opposite of the Shade Seeker these people show up fully prepared to sun bathe all day long in the smallest bathing suit they feel comfortable wearing. They have towels, chairs, and bottles and bottles of lotion.

4. Book Worm - You won't see this person on the beach without a book, sometimes it's a current best seller other times and oldy but goody.

5. Athlete - Bocce Ball or Cornhole anyone? These people bring one or more forms of sports game to the beach and spend all day playing it.

6. Parent - You will find this person building sandcastles, digging holes, or pouring buckets of water into said holes endlessly to entertain their children.

7. Party Animal - Got a cooler and a koozie on your must have list for a beach trip, then this might be you. No matter how early it is you will never find a drink far from this person on beach day.

8. Not sexy, doesn't know it - the guy walking with his arms at an arc because his "muscles" are so "big", the girl in the bikini that's much too small for you, the guy in the Speedo (no guy should wear a Speedo unless he's swimming for a gold medal), the person who had they just glanced in the mirror would have saved us all feeling a little bit uncomfortable all day.

Here's the fun part tell me what category or categories you fit into, I use to be, still am at heart, and will be again someday a Sun Worshiping Book Worm. After I had little K I morphed into a Sun Worshiping Parent.

  1. Book worm! I have to have a book at the beach, even if I don't spend the whole time playing with it. I still like to build sand castles and bury people in the sand (and make them into fat mermaids), so as soon as I have a kid, I'll happily morph into the parent category.

  3. I'm the shade seeker parent. One day, I'd like to be the shade seeker bookworm. Maybe when my kids are older & I don't have to be afraid of them running off. Though that can happen at any age.
