It's All About The Books - Vol. 16

I wasn't sure I was going to get this post together but I realized I had such a great reading month I should share. Finding books others love is one of the great things about this link up.

Modern Lovers by Emma Straub - I loved this story, we'll call it a coming of middle age story. Straub has created characters that have traits and feelings you can identify with. Do you remember the moment you realized I'm a grown up, the things I use to think were a big deal really weren't in the grand scheme of things, and adult friendships are so much different than the friendships of our youth? Straub does a great job of capturing all these feelings. 5/5

The Never Open Desert Diner by James Anderson - Full review here. 4/5

Tricky Twenty-Two by Janet Evanovich - The characters in the Stephanie Plum series are some of my all time favorites and they didn't disappoint in the twenty-second book in the Plum series. I started laughing out loud on page 4 of this book and kept laughing all the way through. This is my second favorite book in the series so far, I can't wait to see what Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lula, and Grandma Mazur gt into next time. 4/5

The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andews - At 464 pages this is a little long for what I usually consider a good beach read but a good beach read it is. It has all the ingriedients of a beach read; romance, mystery, a hurricane, and of course the beach. Good for reading while you people watch on the sand. 3/5

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan - First, I always wonder how two people write a book? Team work in book writing seems like it would be complicated. Second, I really adored this story. I wouldn't call myself a royal watching more of a sometimes interested in the stories of the royals. The author's did a great job of pulling pieces of gossip from the Will and Kate story and building a what might have happened around them. I really enjoyed the read and found myself wondering if any of the real royals found it entertaining. 5/5

What did you read last month?

  1. I'm up next for Modern Lovers at the library and am so excited to finally read it! And summer seems like the perfect time for me to finally get around to reading one of Mary Kay Andrews' novels!

No interest in The Royal We, and I'm not sure why.

  3. Modern Lovers sounds really good! And yay, glad you liked The Royal We. I heard Lauren Graham is helping turn it into a movie, which should be interesting. I'm curious how two people write a book as well, sounds super complicated!

  4. I really enjoyed The Weekenders as well and thought that it'd be the perfect read for a day at the beach. I have The Never Open Desert Diner, and need to actually read it! I've heard great things about it from everybody. I still can't believe that I haven't read The Royal We! It totally seems like my type of book!

  6. I am on the wait list for 22 from my library. HURRY UP! Haha! What was your favorite, the first? I wasn't sure on The Royal We at first. I dont really care about the royal family and such. But so many of my favorite readers loved it so I am going to give it a try. I am also adding Modern Lovers.

  9. All of these books are on my TBR, except for the Evanovich book. I"m pretty sure I already read that one. There was a period I fell off the Stephanie Plum bandwagon - they were getting too repetitive for me - but I came back to them again. The break worked wonders for me and I missed their zaniness. Pure comfort food.

  10. I'm currently reading Modern Lovers, I love all the Stephanie Plum books (haven't read 22 yet), and the Royal We and Never Open Desert Diner are already on my list. I'm positive I've read at least one or two Mary Kay Andrews books and have enjoyed them. Might have to check out this one, too.
