Sea La Vie - 6/19

// Shark Attacks - Last weekend there were two shark attacks about 60 miles North of my beach and LOTS of shark sightings at all the beaches in between. I don't know what the deal with all the sharks is but I'm grateful it's been to hot to be on the beach. (PSA: don't fucking swim by piers, by fisherman chumming off piers, or at dusk/dawn. Unless of course you don't mind being shark bait).

// Breasticle Lumps - A few weeks ago when I was in for my lady parts annual check up my doctor found a lump in my left tata. So Monday I went for a mammogram and ultrasound, I  have three cysts but they are all benign. The mammogram didn't hurt like I thought it would AND I'm so happy to be cancer free.

// Swim Classes - Little K has been taking swim classes since last November and she's been making great progress. However, when I took her to a pool a couple of weekends ago she sank like a rock and I had to pull her to the surface. So I'm back at the aquatic center every Tuesday and Thursday night for swim class, and we'll continue until she gets it.

// Neighbor News - The neighbors with the three barking mangy dogs have moved out! By the amount of work being done next door and the pile of trash left in front I can only assume they weren't very clean. The bad/good news is eventually we will get new neighbors, I'm not a fan of neighbors. The lady across the street told Tyson she thinks I'm a bitch because I didn't wave at her one day when we were both outside or something. I have no desire to look around at all the neighbors yards and houses every time I step outside of my house to make sure I have no offended anyone by not waving. Next time I move I follow my usual rule, be a bitch from the start...just kidding..kind of.

// Summer Shows - I haven't been watching a lot of TV the last few months, I've been in complete book mode and not hating it. That all changes in the next few weeks, my guilty summer staple Big Brother starts on June 26th and HGTV has a new show called Flipping The Beach starting on July 5th.

Everyone is talking about Rachel Dolezal this week, I've listened to what she had to say and as a mother of a biracial child this article expresses perfectly my thoughts during her interview. You all know I work from home but you probably don't know I do most of the things on this list. No shame in my work game. Finally you can't bring back the beach blog without and end of the week link to a beach article, welcome to my life.

*Keeping the families of those 9 people who lost their lives in Charleston in my thoughts this weekend as they deal with the grief of their unexpected loss.

  1. How scary finding a lump but glad you jumped on it and you are cancer free! I totally don't pay attention to most of my neighbors either though I do wave to a few I know in passing. Happy Friday!

  2. lumps are scary has hell! i had "fibrous breasts" when i was a teen into my late 20s so lumpy boobs were my thing and each time i found one i was so scared i practically lived at the doctor's office because i made them check each one. all of them (fibroadenomas) were benign but damn, God, why do this to us? dont we have enough to deal with like the periods and cramps and the labour and all that shizz?? CUT US SOME SLACK, ALREADY

  3. The word "breasticles" always makes me laugh. But lumps and shark attacks are scary! I'm glad you're ok.

  4. Yay! I love Sea la Vie!

I'm glad that your lumps were benign.

Why do people swim near piers?

We used to be dusk swimmers. Not anymore as more and more sharks are off the coast of NJ.

  5. I love, love, love the name!!!

Just say no to sharks. I haven't been watching a ton of TV either. Just a few shows but mostly books. And HOORAY for benign lumps!

Including you, I have a few friends with biracial children and I've been wondering what you guys think of that Rachel Dolezal situation so thank you for including that link.

  6. Glad you are cancer free as well. And at least K can do something in the water. Our J won't even get his face wet. We'll try to change that this summer with weekly trips to the pool.

  7. I just read that article on Rachel Dolezal and saw the THAT ISN’T HOW THIS WORKS! and was reminded of the insurance commercial. I unfriend her. hahahah! Gosh, going to the lady dr and having a scare is no fun, glad that turned out ok.

I am a bitch neighbor. I have no desire to be friendly with the people who live around me. It just makes it worse when they act like asshats and you have to stand up for yourself or whatever...you know? Plus, I dont like people up in my home life business. Just leave me alone and let's stare creepily at each other from our patch of land, ok?! Have a great weekend!

  8. Eeeeek, my heart skipped a beat at the breasticle part. So grateful everything came back benign, that must have been super scary waiting for the mammogram/US results. I'm 50/50 on being friendly with neighbors. We aren't up each others asses, and we certainly wouldn't tell someone their SO is a bitch for not waving, but we are friendly. I ust don't need to know any of their business.
